FROGUST
I discovered a page on Instagram that was hosting a Frog-themed drawing prompt list and I love a good prompt list! The creative drawing prompts can help any artist feel inspired and it is fun to see what other folks come up with for the same idea. Here are some of my drawings for Frogust 2021:
Never underestimate the power of a pencil and paper.
What starts out as a rough sketch ends up becoming a colorful & cool digital illustration.
Process Video for Dragonfruit Frog
I get started by sketching a few ideas for the daily prompt. Once I create a drawing that feels ready to jump off the page, it’s time to go digital. I use my iPad Pro and the handy drawing application Procreate. After photographing or scanning the drawing, I will begin drawing the outlines. Once fully outlined, it is time to add color! If there are extra details, this is the step when I will add them. Applying a color scheme really brings out the detail but it’s the shading and highlighting that add depth. Once it feels complete, it’s time to share! See a behind-the-scenes clip below.

SLEEPY FOREST ANIMALS
I made these little cutie critters to feature on my baby shower invites, stickers, and more! I sketched out a few ideas of my favorite forest animals until I settled on a style I liked for them. I wanted them to look peaceful and relaxed and to have a similar shape throughout. Then I illustrated and added color with my 11-in iPad Pro using Procreate and my Apple Pencil.
One-inch stickers with my sleepy bear drawing to help say “thank you beary much” to our guests and an idea for a sleepy forest animal onesie pattern.
