One Happy Camper
There’s something especially magical about celebrating a first birthday. It’s a big milestone and I made sure to add a little whimsy. For our son’s big day, I couldn’t resist leaning into the theme “One Happy Camper,” inspired by his love of the outdoors, his adventurous spirit, and celebrating it at a nearby forest preserve. From cozy, nature-inspired decor and playful camping details on the custom invitations that set the tone, every element was designed to feel warm and adventurous.
I created custom yard signs that served as playful directional markers along the route to the picnic shelter, as well as the double sided invitations to set the tone in advance. Throughout the space, there was matching signage for the food and drinks we served too.
I was even inspired to carve a small custom stamp to help decorate the envelopes we mailed our invitations in!
Our talented friend Amy of ReadyAimDesign created 3.5” wooden camping-themed signs to go along with the decor that included a compass, a tent, hikers, a picnic table, and more. They were a nice, personal touch to go along with the lanterns, carabiners, and wood slices (saved from our wedding!) that we decorated the tables with. I printed a few photos of our son’s face throughout his first year and topped them with cute little ranger hats for the cupcake decorations. They brought big smiles and many of our friends and family made sure to keep one.
All of the details came together perfectly to create more than just a party, but a small moment in time we’ll always remember with the people that care for our family. Our happy camper might not recall the day he turned one, but the memories and the love that filled the day will stay with us for many years to come.
Thanks for looking,
Laura
