Coffee Container

Earlier this year, I joined a lettering challenge & illustrated a native plant for every letter of the alphabet. The project was done in a style that inspired the folks at Ten Drop Coffee Lab in Plainfield, IL. They reached out to me with a proposal for a coffee drawing for their to-go coffee containers. This was such a fun project to do. I love drinking coffee, enjoy drawing nature, and always want to make the world more beautiful… so it was the ultimate trifecta for a great project. Thank you so much, Chris for reaching out and trusting me with this creative endeavor. Check ‘em out!

The Airscape coffee canister is great because it’s reusable, keeps things extra fresh, has my screen printed coffee drawing on it, AND it’s available in four fun color options to match anyone’s style. Pictured above is the container kindly gifted to me by Ten Drops Coffee Lab in teal and black. It was hard to pick a favorite color combination but I knew this one would match the wallpaper in our kitchen. The coffee beans from Ten Drops smell amazing and I am so proud to show off this container! They also printed it in black on white and gold on orange and black.

The inspiration behind my wrap design was the coffee shop shrub, named “Groot”. The photos they took of the beautiful leaves and flowers started the ideas for my vector drawing. I started with a thin, detailed line drawing, then traced around the outside lines with a thicker line to help define the design. I love the way it turned out.

Of course, this project started out with some sketched out ideas to decide what direction the team at Ten Drops wanted it to go. Below are the drawings for the first few ideas I had in the preliminary stages.

I am beyond thankful for commissioned projects like this one. It’s rewarding to see my art in the wild.

Thanks for looking,

Laura
